I have attended a number of UFO conferences, both regional and national over the years. At first I went with a sociological purpose: I was curious to learn just what kind of weird people would attend such outlandish gatherings.
 
That attitude was quickly dispelled. Here’s a short essay I published in my then Celestial Navigations newsletter, focusing on what inside me changed upon attending my first two UFO conferences, in 2000 and 2001. ’Twas a welcome epistemological stretch.
